Positive Daily Reminders —Svenja

I always find callouts next to my laptop quiet memorable, as they help me to think about my health and wellbeing each day and every day.

On my note it says:

  • Stay hydrated!
  • Move your body 30mins a day, no matter how
  • Eat your greens or reds or yellows or blues or… every colour benefits one part of your body
  • Love yourself first
  • Fun is the best medicine, so don’t take yourself too seriously

Be Happy! Be Healthy! —Luca

Voltaire once said, “I have chosen to be happy, because it is good for my health”. This quote works as my personal mantra. It is universally acknowledged that a happy mind is a healthy mind, and a healthy mind equals a healthy body.

And that is why one of my favourite physical activities is “AcroYoga”, which is a combination of yoga and acrobatics. AcroYoga offers numerous benefits to those who practice it that are both physical and mental. It promotes body awareness, strengthens muscles, improves flexibility and balance, boosts confidence and trust, and enhances communication skills.

Plus, it also helps to reduce stress and anxiety, improves focus and concentration, and creates a sense of community and connection!

Small Changes, Big Impact—Vera

In 2016, I weighted well over 60kg  – exceeding the healthy range for people of my height. I knew then, it was time to make changes since my unhealthy lifestyle could negatively affect my wellbeing.

And so, I took the following steps towards a happier and healthier life:

1.Adopting a well-balanced and healthy diet

I now regularly eat meals at home. When preparing food for myself , I try to reduce salt and oil. I also practice mindful eating, which gives me the opportunity to fully enjoy my food. Moreover, I know that eating a varied, well-balanced diet is important, so I maintain a balanced diet of protein, carbon, vegetables and fruits in recommended servings.

2.Regular physical activity

I make a workout plan for myself every week. The plan includes a combination of running 10 km 1~2 times per week, and 2~3 times per week other activities like cycling, yoga and Zumba for 30-60 minutes.

3.Find an activity that you enjoy

I believe that finding an activity that you truly love, is key to sticking with it. I have discovered hiking for myself and, for me, hiking is a fun activity; the healing power of nature helps me to feel rejuvenated.
